This is a call for expressions of interest from experienced film professionals who would be interested in being part of a small delegation of experts who will be asked to devise and lead modules at the workshops relating to the UK India co-production treaty.
This is a public diplomacy initiative funded by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
UK Trade & Investment, UK Film Council and the Department for Culture, Media & Sport will be running a series of workshops to help producers and other industry professionals understand the requirements and benefits of the UK India co-production treaty, which will shortly come into force.
The first set of workshops will take place in Chennai for two days in late November followed by two days at the International Film Festival in Goa.
The second set of workshops will take place in Mumbai at FICCI FRAMES in Spring 2009.
Further workshops may also be scheduled to take place in the UK.
The workshops will be attended by both India and UK-based producers and other industry professionals who wish to understand how the treaty works, along with other practical issues around UK/India filmmaking collaboration.
The workshops will be provided free of charge to producers.
The UK Film Council would like to hear from experienced film professionals who would be interested in being part of a small delegation of experts who will be asked to devise and lead modules at the workshops covering the following subjects:
- Legal and accounting issues, specifically:
- information about the co-production treaty structures and their requirements;
- access to the UK film tax relief; and
- how to obtain visas and work permits.
- How UK distribution and the international sales of films works.
- How to access other sources of public funding: UK Film Council funds and regional funding.
- How to access other sources of UK production finance.
- Working practices in the UK .
Through the support of UK Trade & Investment, we will provide the costs of business class travel to India for each workshop, and accommodation and subsistence in India, but we will not be able to provide any professional fees or other expenses.
